1- Hippocrates (460 – 370 BC), the father of medicine postulated two principles of treating diseases-
a. Contraria Contrariis Curantur (Latin) which means 'opposites are cured by opposites'. This principle teaches to treat disease by using remedies that produce opposite effects.
b.Similia Similibus Curentur (Latin), which means 'like Cures like ' . Hippocrates was known to have said, "Through the like, disease is produced, and through the application of the like it is cured."

2- Founder of Homeopathy medicine –
Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann(1755-1843) was a German physician, best known for creating the pseudoscientific system of alternative medicine or CAM called homeopathy. Hahnemann work on Homeopathy, which was earlier an idea , was published in 1796 as Essay on a New Principle for Ascertaining the Curative Power of Drugs, which was followed in 1810 by his famous work The Organon of the Healing Art. Thus , homeopathy is a 200-year-old form of alternative medicine , to have risen in Europe , that claims to stimulate a healing response and strengthen the body's ability to heal itself. Those who practice it claim that it is a holistic system of medicine based on the theory of treating 'like with like'.

b. History of American Institute of Homeopathy ( AIH ) , USA - Homeopathy was first introduced in the United States by Hans Birch Gram, who was born in Boston, MA of Danish extraction. By 1843, the Homoeopathic movement had grown considerably from the early days of Gram. Hering himself noted that a number of early converts to Homoeopathy came as a result of the cholera epidemics of the 1830's and 1840's. After the death of founder of Homeopathic movement , Samuel Hahnemann , the New York Homeopathic Physicians' Medical Society decided to call a general convention of the practitioners of Homoeopathy throughout the united States in order to adopt a plan by which the art of Homoeopathy should be widely and systematically cultivated. This lead to foundation of AIH in 1844 .
